Fortinet Discovers Adobe DNG Converter Memory Corruption Vulnerability


Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs has discovered a memory corruption vulnerability in Adobe DNG Converter.
The Adobe DNG Converter is a free utility that enables you to easily convert camera-specific raw files from more than 600 cameras to the more universal DNG raw format. DNG allows photographers to archive their raw camera files in a single format for easy cataloging and access in the future.
A memory corruption vulnerability has been discovered in Adobe DNG Converter. The vulnerability can be triggered by a crafted NEF file which causes an out-of-bounds read, due to improper bounds checking. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could grant an attacker remote code execution.


FortiGuard Labs released the following FortiGate IPS signature which covers this specific vulnerability:

This vulnerability was discovered by Kushal Arvind Shah of Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs.
