Fortinet Discovers IBM BigInsights Zookeeper Remote DoS Vulnerability

Summary

Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs has discovered a denial of service (DoS) vulnerability in Open Source Zookeeper that affects IBM BigInsights (IBM Open Platform with Apache Hadoop).

ZooKeeper is a centralized service for maintaining configuration information, providing distributed synchronization, and providing group services.

A vulnerability is discovered in Zookeeper due to incorrectly processing specially crafted network packet. When IBM BigInsights Zookeeper is accessed behind a firewall where Jetty AdminServer is not available, it could allow an authenticated user to cause a denial of service.
